Pre-Hike 2/27/2015

I’m not sure how I did it, in fact please don’t ask me to show you how, but my Hiker Gypsy website is finally live!! I consider myself more technically savvy than most, but I must admit that setting up this blog was completely outside my comfort zone.  As I finish the final preparations for the start of my 2 month Appalachian Trail (AT) hike, I hope to post a gear video, more pictures, and otherwise make the site more exciting.

My target start date on the AT is March 1st but in the meantime you can read my “About” page for a brief personal background.  Please remember to check back daily for updates and posts; I’m so thrilled to have you on this journey with me!

  1. Nice work on the blog. I started one recently. It took me awhile to figure some things out with it, as well.
Can you post a list of everything you are taking? Are you going alone?

    1. Hi Ed! Thank you! Your blog is really inspiring. If you have any blogging tips, please pass them my way.

My dad is starting out with me and I will be having company on different parts of the hike. I plan to post a gear video in the next few days, so please let me know what you think. I’m sure there will be an adjustment period as well, but I’m feeling really good about the gear I have. Thanks for your support. I can’t wait to see you.

      1. Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the blog. I am sure you will do great with the hike and the blog. I can’t think of anything I could give a tip on the blogging, over email. Take lots of pictures. The trail itself is so neat, not to mention all of the things you see on the side, and people you meet. I met a 60 plus year old man from Hawaii, hiking the trail. I will be happy to check out the gear, even though I am not an expert. I may get my friends thoughts as well. I am sure you did the research and are prepared. Happy to support and very interested. Will be glad to see you too, after some crazy amount of years.

        1. Thank you! It will be the time I can spend with my dad and people like you as well as the people I meet that will make this so special.

  2. Nice pictures!! You are right it does look cold. Good luck to you and your dad, have fun, be safe. Love you. Mom
